Description
BO DIDDLEY Road Runner/Pretty Thing 45rpm Pye International 1963
He only had a few hits in the 1950s and early '60s, but as Bo Diddley sang, "You Can't Judge a Book by Its Cover." You can't judge an artist by his chart success, either, and Diddley produced greater and more influential music than all but a handful of the best early rockers. The Bo Diddley beat -- bomp, ba-bomp-bomp, bomp-bomp -- is one of rock & roll's bedrock rhythms, showing up in the work of Buddy olly, the Rolling Stones and even pop-garage knock-offs like the Strangeloves' 1965 hit "I Want Candy." Diddley's hypnotic rhythmic attack and declamatory, boasting vocals stretched back as far as Africa for their roots, and looked as far into the future as rap. His trademark otherworldly vibrating, fuzzy guitar style did much to expand the instrument's power and range. But even more important, Bo's bounce was fun and irresistibly rocking, with a wisecracking, jiving tone that epitomized rock & roll at its most humorously outlandish and freewheeling. (Richie Unterberger, AllMusic)
I have graded the vinyl Excellent. It is still black and shiny and there are certainly surface marks, but these are light and consistent with a record being brought in and out of its sleeve over time, surface marks that have no adverse effect on good clean playback.
There is a new inner sleeve with a soft protective lining, as well as a thicker outer cover and a photographic frontispiece better to identify a record housed in a collection, but this is not an original cover.

POSTAGE : I prefer to use UPS via eBay, which is a really speedy service, usually arriving overseas within 2-4 days, whereas Royal Mail can take many weeks to arrive. I have a flat rate of £20 which is what it costs to deliver to US and other parts of the World although Europe is around £15. There is only provision for one flat rate and so it is fixed at £20. If you live in Europe please mail me and I will adjust the postage before you buy. In some instances the postage costs more than £20, to further parts of the World and we may need to similarly adjust this, although often I am prepared to pay the difference provided the record isn’t very low value.
