Description
This is the very first Bo Diddley LP self-titled “Bo Diddley” on the Chess Records label catalog number 1431, in mono, released in 1958. This is a 1st pressing of the album. This version is one of the first releases of the LP because it is on the Chess label. It was re-released later the same year on the Checker label as were Bo Diddley’s later releases. The first few Checker Records releases by other artists were also initially pressed on the Chess label then re-released on the Checker label.
All records that I have for sale are from my personal collection and were purchased new and played exclusively on a high end turntable. They are play tested prior to listing to guarantee an accurate description.
This 58 year old record was pressed on extra thick vinyl. It is in excellent condition and clean with a few marks on the surface. The record still sounds great with occasional clicking and typical stylus on vinyl sounds. Record labels are in excellent condition.
The outer jacket shows some minor ring wear on the front and some discoloration on the back. There is a small split on each corner at the top and bottom of the opening. Otherwise the jacket is solid (See pictures). The plain paper inner sleeve is intact.
I will pack the record outside of the jacket to protect jacket integrity and ship in a sturdy LP mailer with cardboard inserts and bubble wrap for further protection.
