BOADICEA The War Queen Mega Rare Private Female vocal 1977 ELLIE JAY records EJR 580A
An original Musical performed by The Pupils and Staff of Sir Charles Lucas School
By T Mortimer and J Godfrey
Heres another ultra Rare LP - SIr Charles Lucas School in Colchester perform a contemporary musical based on Boadicea the Early English Warrior Queen
This Copy was owned by a member of the cast as several of the signatures on the back sleeve are dedicated to ‘Christine’
Musicals are notoriously tricky to stage and perform - But this original material is suprisingly memorable -
full of drama with very strong arrangements and instrumentation - and the performances are full of character .
The Songs are mostly piano led with vocals from the Youthful cast - but also with drums and woodwind and keyboards .
The songs are very well constructed, some dreamy, some slightly Jazzy and some stirring.
Three songs in particular stand out for me “This day” “far Away” and “Out of a Misty Dream” featuring some lovely expressive female vocals.
In eye-catching red and black embossed screen printed sleeve
CONDITION - Sleeve is VERY GOOD with some fait marks and general wear
more so on the rear sleeve - Which is mostly white and signed by 11 different
members of the Musical performers (See Photo 2)
Vinyl is VERY GOOD with a number of light Surface marks and there are occasional clicks and light crackles. Side One has one louder pop for 4 Revolutions at the start of the first track
A very very Rare LP - I suspect the first to be ever offered for sale - the original inner sleeve has 9/18 written in the corner - which perhaps relates to the number of
copies pressed .
