In 1992, Bob Dylan took a week's leave from the fall leg of his "Neverending Tour," playing date after date at typically unassuming 1,000 to 2,000-seat theaters in the Northeast US to participate in a star-studded gala celebration at mighty Madison Square Garden in New York City, to mark his own 30th anniversary in the recording industry. A few nights later he was back playing in a chilly tent for about 1,000 fans at tiny Endicott College in Beverly, Mass.
The amazing performances he gave at those little shows before and after the gala celebration - many of which I attended - were what brought together the widest possible panoply of music's biggest stars--from Stevie Wonder, Lou Reed and Johnny Winter, to Neil Young, Eric Clapton and George Harrison, to name just a few--to pay tribute to one of music's most treasured and enduring living legends.
The Concert Gala has been preserved in many audio and video versions since.
This is an original first European release on vinyl of the 3-LP album, mastered from the original digital recording, pressed in The Netherlands and issued in 1993.
It is in absolutely MINT condition, still in its original shrinkwrap. The discs have never been played and all content--from vinyl LPs themselves and labels, to the jacket, as well as the three beautifully-printed inner sleeves with great photos from the event, onstage and behind the scenes, are in perfect, pristine, just-like-new condition.
Stored vertically on a shelf with the rest of our carefully maintained LP collection, protected inside an extra poly sleeve, the album is in the same perfect condition as the day it came home from the store. (We listened to the CD or watched the videos instead.)
If you'd like to own a gorgeous original copy on absolutely perfect, regular-weight, European virgin vinyl, you likely won't find one better!
