Original Mono issue contract Philips pressing-very scarce

with scarce Cover variant B

Matrix # (Philips pressed): BPG 62193 1L * 1 = 420 1 and BPG 62193 2L * 1 = 420 1 * denotes upside down triangle

1L denotes side 1 mono and next 1 denotes 1st cut master......

etc.....

Disc: VG- well worn ! - has been well played with an amount of background noise and some pops and clicks

Cover B: 'Philips variation' -Rare variant B: 2 back flaps

-front lamination laps over spine to give a fake 3rd flap effect

edge creasing/thumb creasing/corner wear but intact ! Still shiny ! -VG

Back: with large BPG catalogue # on back cover with US cat. # underneath

Some discolouring mainly around the usual open edge area but overall quite reasonable for such a well used item.

Of course because it is unlaminated.

The lamination down the spine is creased.

Flaps: the rare 2 flap variation-these have the usual discolouring where the lamination stops short and various creases

Slight picture overlap at top

Spine - damage on 'W' and '1' otherwise in decent shape with the rest of the lettering clear clean crisp and intact

Label: Philips - 'rough' paper label - light orange with thick type song titles and large BPG with indented circle within the logo box and on the label within this box is embossed the relevant tax code for that period 'O/ T1 (which can be found on Philips pressed discs from this period including singles on Philips and Fontana).

NOTE: this IS a 'T 1' (T for tax) and not a '1 1' erroneously listed on specialist sites and is supposed to be the relevant tax code for that period (in fact 'O' dates from an earlier period but often the code wasn't changed very quickly-it is supposed to relate to the current Purchase Tax rate applicable at the time)-also used in slightly different ways by other companies.

Dylan's contract pressings are known to be EMI (1965) and Philips (1962-65 or so) where the tax codes sometimes appear ('Times they are a-changin' UK CBS 7" for example)

Items are packaged very strongly and discs are removed from their LP covers or Picture Covers and placed separately within the package and also placed in an extra sleeve outside of their normal sleeve (e.g. a lyric inner sleeve etc)-to avoid the disc splitting the LP cover or Picture Cover or Inner Cover.

You may request extra packaging or sleeving only prior to invoicing and an extra charge may be made.
