"Why Buy Mine"? Most sellers grade their product visually, but when it comes to sound, all that really tells you is that it "looks like" it should play good (or fair, or poor). I am in the process of converting my record collection to digital files. So when I review the digital file for tics, pops or skips in order to then remove those flaws, I am reviewing the record for visual flaws and I am also reviewing for sonic flaws. Will I find and note every defect? No. However, I believe I will find all skips and pops (they are very easy to spot on a digital file) and I will find enough tics (if present) to make a much more realistic rating. I will also use standard Gold Mine rating values. If you feel that I have erred in an evaluation, please contact me so we can work out a solution. For the record, I define a very lite tic as being barely audible and easily missed when played at "normal" volume levels, a lite tic is audible but may not be noticed if you are not focused strongly on listening to the music and a tic is clearly audible but will not make you jump out of the chair - that's the job for a pop.

It is unfortunate that most of the autographed copies of records I accumulated during my years at Capitol records were water damaged in the early 80's. Some greater than others. On a positive note, most of these records were played only one time, if at all, leaving the sound quality still at a great level. Mr. Seger was gracious enough to visit the Distribution Center in 1976 in conjunction with the "Night Moves" album release and tour. This album had only lite damage and is discussed below.

Jacket: VG+ This jacket escaped the brunt of the water damage. The worst damage was to the inner sleeve, which has pronunced ripples front and back. I shot the pictures (front and back) at an an angle to catch the light in its worst condition. Other than the ripples, the sleeve is intact and solid. The only visible damage to the jacket is a a slight warping on the bottom right corner (last pic), some faint watermarks primarily on the back and some lite rippling on front and back that is felt more than seen. As far as "normal" wear goes the jacket is excellent with some lite scuffing on the bottom edge only, a small "crunch on the botttom right corner and a tiny chip off the top right corner. Ringwear is only noticeable when viewed at an angle.

The album was signed on the front in the "moon" in red ink. Over the last 37 years it has faded badly. It is still legible, but you really have to look hard and close up to notice it. (see pic 2)

Vinyl: VG++ Looking at the vinyl, you will see some residue that can cause very lite tics or crackles. I did my normal sound file audit and found one lite tic on Side 1 Track one and multiple very lite tics and crackles on track 2 - "Night Moves". "Night Moves" has noticeable flaws because there are several spots in the song where you only hear Bob singing without the band and this enable you to hear the crackles. There were no other instances heard during the rest of the album because the band covered them up. No Tics, No Pops.
