BOB WILLS PAPA'S JUMPIN' BEAR FAMILY MGM BOX SET 5 LP'S
From 1985 comes the 5 LP Bear Family Bob Wills box set Papa's Jumpin' - The MGM Years (Bear Family BFX 15179), spotlighting Wills and the Texas Playboys' unjustly underexplored post-Columbia work and finding the unit still plenty juiced up on 99 classic cuts with vocals from the likes of the great Tommy Duncan, Dean & Evelyn McKinney, Cindy Walker (on the delightful "Three Little Kittens"), Carolina Cotton, and Bob himself!
The outer box is in excellent condition with some basic shelf wear and a bit of discoloration along its spine, but with no splits, tears or writing. Unfortunately, the booklet is missing, but Rich Kienzle's liner notes on the backs of the individual jackets ought to satisfy most listeners' curiousity about the timeline of the recordings therein. The jackets themselves are in excellent condition, their only blemishes being inch-long frays in the centers of their top seams. The LP's themselves are excellent to near mint.
