The original copies of this 1959 Bobby Darin killer album are next-to-impossible to find because - you guessed it - teenagers really thought it was intended for them only, and played with it incessantly. Contrary to the title, this is very much an adult album, an album for, by and of the mature individuals, and includes some of the finest singing by Bobby Darin on record (and that's telling a lot!). The album also contains "That lucky old sun" , one of the finest ballads ever sung by great Bobby Darin. When Bobby Darin was inducted into the R&R hall of fame some years ago, some high-and-mighty individuals complained that R&R hall of fame is not a place for the teeny-boppers. Bobby Darin was, and is, a towering giant of American music, and R&R music in particular. This album amply demonstrates why. This album is the very hardest to find of all Bobby Darin albums; Mint copies are known to exchange hands as much as $200. (IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)            CAUTION! The vinyl is only VERY GOOD (-)- TO VERY GOOD, with multiple, numerous, small scuffs and scratches which are BOTH visible AND audible. The record plays with light and tolerable BUT AUDIBLE surface noise and occasional pops and clicks. The record plays without skipping throughout. This record WAS play-graded. One of the scratches is deep (about 1-inch long) and is PROBABLY audible.

(b)            This album is presented here mostly for its historical value and as a very rare item, which can be exceedingly difficult to find in any other condition

(c)             The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)            The record has a "deep groove" (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings).

(e)             Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

(f)              Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

·       COVER (THIS IS THE ORIGINAL, LAMINATED, GLOSSY COVER WITH 1-PAGE INSERT TUCKED INSIDE):

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover has two corners on the opening side slightly worn / frayed / bent (nothing significant)

-         Cover has a tiny, barely visible cutout hole in one of the corners

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging. Yellowing is also noted on the INSIDE gatefold

-         Cover has a tiny "wrinkle" (crease) in one of the corners. (VISIBLE ON BACK SIDE ONLY)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-         No split seams

-         No ring wear

-         No cut-out corners

-         No saw-marks or indents

-         No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-         No writing

-         No stamps

-         No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-         No peel-off marks

-         No stains

-         No mold or mildew spots

-         No stickers or labels

-         No water damage

-         No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or cuts.

-         No warping

-         No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-         No bar codes

-         No RIAA stamps or stickers.
