Description
Up for auction is a nice copy of the Booker Ervin album "The Freedom Book" released on Prestige Records (7295) in 1964. This is the preferable MONO version. Blue trident labels, VANGELDER stamped in the dead wax, Bergenfield, NJ addresses. As you can see from the photos, the cover is in really nice condition. Front cover retains its original high gloss lamination, with no ring wear. Corners are sharp, un-bumped. Lower right corner has a crease with a little lifting of the laminate. Back cover is also really nice, with no serious flaws. Some yellowing around the edges (see photo), and some factory glue residue along the bottom left edge. Call it Near Mint-/EX+. Vinyl is in really nice shape, too. Retains its original high gloss sheen. No obvious scratches or serious scuffs. Certain none that can be felt. There seems to be a couple very superficial adhesion marks, perhaps from the paper inner sleeve. You can seem them only at certain angles of the light. Cannot be felt. I play tested this record, and it sounds great, even in the quiet passages. Very little if any background sounds. Full bodied, undistorted mono sound. An intense record. Call the vinyl condition EX+ (others might be tempted to call it NM-, but I'm going to be conservative here). Overall, a very well-preserved copy of this free jazz classic.
