Description
Here's an extremely rare studio acetate containing a great, whimsical and unreleased track by Boyce and Hart. According to Bobby Hart's book Psychedelic Bubblegum, the track "Let's All Take a Trip to Nashville" appears in an episode of the TV show The Flying Nun in March of 1970. The song remains unreleased, but this acetate contains a full studio recording of the track. Another interesting detail is what's written on the label: "For Sid the Virginia Kid." According to the book, this is a reference to Tommy Boyce's dad:
Tommy was my age, my height and build. Fresh out of high school, he was still living in the LA suburb of Highland Park with his mother Evelyn and his city bus driver father, a true Southern character who called himself "Sid the Virginia Kid."
Furthermore, this track seems to have been a tribute to Tommy's dad:
He talked freely about how his early musical influences were really his father's heroes: Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams, and the old blues yodeler, Jimmie Rodgers.
