Description
This is the Brian Wilson Presents Smile vinyl record, notable for its embossed gatefold cover art featuring the iconic sun logo
The US domestic vinyl pressing of this album was handled by Rhino Records (Catalog Number: RI 76582).
It features a 180-gram double-LP cut mastered by engineer Don Grossinger at RTI from an analog tape copy of the original 88.2K digital master.
The release features the distinct embossed, blue foil metallic lettering on a heavy gatefold sleeve, making it highly collectible.
Beautiful high grade copy. Clean & unmarked. Sleeve embossed & perfectly white with high gloss metal blue lettering.
Small scratch through the “L” (see the picture).
The 2004 Rhino vinyl edition of Brian Wilson Presents Smile is highly sought after by collectors for several distinct reasons:
First Official Release: It represents the first complete, officially authorized presentation of the legendary, unreleased 1967 Beach Boys SMiLE project, fully realized by Brian Wilson.
The Matrix Numbers: Authentic copies feature unique master engravings in the dead wax ("RI-76582-A" through "RI-76582-D"), validating its provenance as a true 2004 Rhino pressing.
Premium RTI Pressing: Vinyl production was handled by Record Technology Incorporated (RTI), a plant globally revered by audiophiles for delivering exceptionally clean, quiet, and defect-free pressings.
Pure Analog Cut: Legendary mastering engineer Don Grossinger cut the lacquers directly from an analog tape safety copy, providing a warmer, more panoramic soundstage than the digital CD version.
Deluxe Artwork Packaging: The gatefold features deep, heavy-stock embossing and brilliant blue foil lettering that is drastically superior to standard flat-print foreign editions or later reissues.
Scarcity: It was manufactured during the nadir of the global vinyl market in 2004, resulting in a strictly limited production run that has never met ongoing modern collector demand.
