A 33 1/3 RPM stereo vinyl LP, 'Bright Phoebus - Songs By Lal & Mike Waterson

Recorded and produced by Bill Leader, Leader Sound Studios in May, 1972.

The album was released in 1972 on Bill Leader's Trailer label. This LP is one of the original pressings, the release being limited to 1,000 copies owing to technical and financial issues on the part of the label.

A collection of songs written by Lal and Mike Waterson, the two youngest of the Waterson siblings of The Watersons . All songs are written by either one or both of them (apart from the addition of Chris Collins on Magical Man).

Poorly received on release it has since, rightly, become to be regarded as a classic. It has been dubbed "folk music's Sgt. Pepper" because of its eclectic mix of songs.

Lal or Mike (or both) contribute vocals to all of the songs, apart from Red Wine And Promises, sung by older sister Norma.  

The recording includes a number of well-known folk musicians including Martin Carthy (soon to become a Waterson), Tim Hart & Maddy Prior, Ashley Hutchings, Richard Thompson, Dave Mattacks, Bob Davenport and Bernie Vickers (a former member of The Watersons)

The gatefold sleeve was designed by Janet Kerr and features a chubby-cheeked personification of Phoebus (The Sun) on the front (with a larger but half-faced version on the back. Inside there are full credits and a small b&w photo of Lal & Mike. The back has a full track listing with writer and musician credits for each.

Condition

The vinyl  looks VG+ 

No noticeable marks or scratches on the vinyl. A couple of faint pops but hardly noticeable. 

Sleeve VG+, very slight edge wear, the spine is slightly cracked. Very faint ring wear. A small piece of price label residue in the front, top-right-hand corner

Inner sleeve is intact and in good condition with no marks and only faint creasing.
