We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. One of the essential & ultimate HEAVY-psych collectibles sound from England when talking 1970... Top-Of-The-Heap reputation in world-wide collector circles ... only getting more difficult to find some 53 years later...
HIGH TIDE "SEA SHANTIES" was undeniably miles ahead of its time: a powerful, haunting wall of sound which is only let down by poor production values, all too revealing of the 53+ years that have passed since the album's release. Strangely enough, though, the muddy sound quality adds to this record's almost sinister fascination - as well as the disturbing, distinctly gothic sleeve, possibly inspired by Coleridge's marvelous "Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner".
The band's psychedelic roots are quite evident throughout the album, especially in Tony Hill's Jim Morrison-influenced vocals and heavy, distorted guitar riffing. What is really distinctive in High Tide's sound, though, is the presence of Simon House's electric violin, adding at times a touch of lyricism to the overall darkness of the compositions, at other times becoming as obsessively strident as its sparring partner, the guitar. As a matter of fact, the album's highlight features a 9-minute long duel between guitar and violin: the monumental "Death Warmed Up" is without any doubt one of the best jams ever written, a driving, exhilarating tour de force which would be deserving of much greater fame.
This album is not for the faint-hearted, as its brooding atmosphere and fiercely distorted sounds can be heavy going for those who are more used to classic, symphonic prog. In any case, "Death Warmed Up" is worth the price of this record alone. Enjoy the ride. CONDITION:
- The cover: rated: VG+(+) very fragile British original is hard(!) to find in any condition, yet here, despite expected wear (white cover) here's an absolute keeper copy ... light age is visual, hence the grade, though not grubby as most UK originals appear over a half century later.
- Structurally sound, reflective in light detected a only a bit of, otherwise NOT noticeable pen-mark impressions (no ink marks!) There are no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing ... Conservatively graded, expect will fit strongly within virtually any serious collectors music library
- VIEW the photos!
- The vinyl: Rated: near M- no more than faint hair scuffs, nothing of concern, plays fantastic (!!) both U.K. (aqua blue) Liberty labels are clean ... an investment item from
