Description
Bruce Springsteen 1984 UK picture disc Cover Me / Jersey Girl (Live)
This is the 1984 first pressing with 45 r.p.m blacked out. it was repressed and reissued in 1985 with the speed printed correctly i.e. 33 1/3 r.p.m.
Size of item is 11" x 6" approx.
It's well-known that this pressing is very prone to darkening, as were many other picture discs from the '80s. The history is so well known, I won't bother to go into it.
After 42 years, it shows only very minor darkening, and I doubt it'll get any darker now, or only extremely slowly if it does.
If anyone wishes to read up on the reaction kinetics of UV-catalysed polymer degradation, I know a good book.
Please read the description and look at the photos.
For UK buyers, the start price includes the Buyer Protection Fee.
Vinyl
The record is as shown. These were not really meant for playing; they were more novelty items for display, and to boost sales.
The sound quality of these discs may not be comparable to that of a conventional disc. And by 'may not be', I mean 'definitely isn't, without a shadow of doubt'.
In this particular instance, the playback is atrocious. This is simply a characteristic of the pressing and is nothing to do with the condition of the record.
Plinth
As shown. Still in good, robust nick after 42 years. Just moderate, age-related wear really.
Packaging
All packaged strongly and properly, with corrugated reinforcers for extra strength and a load of tape.
