As part of my LP clearout I have, after much thought decided to let some of my treasured Springsteen collectors LP’s go. I have been an avid fan since 1972 when I first heard him and have over the years collected everything I could get my hands on from studio outtakes, home demos to the obvious live recordings, although I am keeping the majority I have fished through them and have decided to let the following 6 titles go into my ebay sale. They are: DO I HAVE TO SAY HIS NAME, DONT’T LOOK BACK, SON YOU MAY KISS THE BRIDE, ROULETTE, BY THE RIVER and CASTAWAY.
The reason for selling is the majority of the material included on the above is now officially available with most being included or recorded for Born to Run through to Born in the USA.
With the release of the Tracks box set and The Promise we now have the proper studio versions to listen to. The joy of collecting these LP’s was to get to hear the material that was getting left by the wayside or being cannibalised to be used elsewhere and were a great source of reference to how he built songs over time no matter how bad, muffled or distant the LP sound may be, I always felt I was party to a secret when I took these home for the first time.
So there you have it............ I hope these will go to serious Springsteen collectors but like me you may already have them, judging from the audiences at his recent Wrecking Ball shows his fan base is getting younger hopefully inquisitive.

This was always one of my favourite boots not only for the track listing at the time but the beautiful glossy sleeve with lyrics to most tracks printed on the back. The LP is quite Born to Run heavy with a beautiful acoustic early version of Thunder Road which I've never found elsewhere I believe. In addition there is a great live version of Frankie which is same version that's on All Those Years I think and a far better arrangement than later the Tracks studio version, this is a must have and I'll be very sad to see it go. overall the sound on this is rated 7.5/10
