Description
Very scarce rockabilly gem featuring BUDDY HOLLY and THE THREE TUNES from approximately 1957.
Titles are “That’ll Be The Day” and “Rock Around With Ollie Vee.” (This is NOT the hit version of That’ll Be The Day, as you can hear in the sound clip below.) Catalog number is Decca 9-30434.
Condition of the record is mixed. The “A” side has nice gloss, some minor scuffs but no serious marks, plays fine and grades a solid VG+. The “B” side (Ollie Vee) has some more pronounced scuff marks – about 15 of them – that are somewhat nasty looking, but fortunately the side also plays pretty good without any serious problems such as clicks or skips. Because of the cosmetic aspect, the Ollie Vee side would probably drop to G but certainly plays much better than that. Labels exhibit some wear, and have the number “1203” in neat pen on both sides, which I assume was placed there by the radio station.
I have provided sound clips of both sides so you can hear the quality of the sound, including the entire area affected by the scuffs on the Ollie Vee side.
I think both sides play pretty good and, as always, I offer a full guarantee of satisfaction to the winning bidder. If you are not happy for any reason, simply return the record in same condition for a full refund of the purchase price plus one-way shipping.
This would make a nice filler copy of this scarce rockabilly gem. My rockabilly price guide “Go Cat Go” 1995 edition by Peter Salamone lists this pink promo single at $300-350 for near mint.
Guaranteed to be authentic and original. I do not sell bootlegs or modern reissues.
