THIS EP IS BY 'BUDDY HOLLY AND THE CRICKETS' AND IS CALLED ' BUDDY HOLLY' AND WAS RELEASED HERE IN AUSTRALIA ON THE 16TH NOVEMBER 1958.

IT IS THE ONLY EP RELEASED IN AUSTRALIA WHILE BUDDY WAS STILL ALIVE.

THIS IS THE ORIGINAL PRESSING OF THIS EP AS IT HAS THE RED LABEL WITH THE SILVER LINES ACROSS IT. FOR SOME REASON THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO CALL THIS EP RAVE ON AND I MUST CONFESS I HAVE NO IDEA WHY AS IT CLEARLY SAYS ON THE COVER BUDDY HOLLY.

THE TRACKS ARE:

THE LABELS ARE CLEAN AND CLEAR. 

THE SLEEVE IS IN VG++ WHICH, CONSIDERING THE AGE (NEARLY 50 YEARS) AND THE QUALITY THESE COVERS WERE MADE IN IS BRILLIANT.

THE RECORD IS IN VG++ CONDITION. PLAYS LOUD AND CLEAR.

For grading purposes I play side one only of an Ep or 45 (mainly the ‘A’ side) and a few tracks on side one of an LP. (refer my feedback for grading).

I also grade records on perceived appearance. I combine them for an overall grading.

I believe this to be the most effective way of grading records. Some records can look ordinary but play well and vikky vika. I clean all my records and covers before posting.

I use the English Record Collectors Magazines Guidelines for gradings as this appears to be the generally accepted term of reference with variances to + or minus. Refer below for grading scales.

Grading Definitions (from Record Collector magazine)

MINT (M): The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just about playable, but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
