THE CRICKETS – “The Chirping Crickets” (1957) Coral-9081 original black label MONO U.K. flaps cover pressing Strong VG/Strong VG (cover/record)

Super rare original Rock ‘n’ Roll classic from 1957 – the debut album by the Crickets and the only one featuring Buddy Holly released during his lifetime, The "Chirping" Crickets contains the group's number one single "That'll Be the Day" and its Top Ten hit "Oh, Boy!." Other Crickets classics include "Not Fade Away," "Maybe Baby," and "I'm Looking for Someone to Love." Those five are among the best rock & roll songs of the 1950s or ever, making this one of the most significant album debuts in rock & roll history, ranking with Elvis Presley and Meet the Beatles.. These vintage albums almost never turn up in this sort of beautiful condition. Particularly an original Sun label full-length LP!

This is an original pressing. The laminated cover has a vibrant colorful image on the front as well as some crimps and a folded corner, a 2-inch seam split at bottom near the jacket opening in where the flap on the back is missing, a small ½-inch tear in the back cover about 2-inches from the bottom of the cover, and an old price sticker on the back cover at top right. The original MONO black label U.K. press vinyl is really clean for the era with a small label tear on side 2. The vinyl has just some light hairline scuffs and plays really well for a pressing of the era. A nice vintage import copy! Conservative grading: Strong VG/Strong VG (on the verge of being nicer)

I package all LPs securely in record mailers and remove the vinyl from the covers to prevent seam splits during mailing. I do not just stick your record in a priority mailer box from the post office or between two thin pieces of cardboard with no additional packaging materials like so many others!!!
