Description
TITLE/ARTIST: This extremely rare and nearly impossible to find PROMO LP was Buddy Holly's very 1st album release from 1958. It is on the original, pink, "Sample Copy" Decca Label, and is entitled simply "That'll Be The Day", by the highly popular 50-60's "rock 'n' roll/rock-a-billy" singer himself, Buddy Holly. LABEL INFORMATION: As mentioned above, it is an original, 1st pressing, pink colored, Promo copy Decca Label, DL 8707, and is, of course, in mono. This LP is from my vast personal collection, and is truly one of the rarest and most difficult to find anywhere these days. VINYL CONDITION: The vinyl is in decent, but not perfect, by any means, condition. There are several light surface lines throughout both sides, and while this does have some small effect on the LP's appearance, the album still plays perfectly fine, believe me. There might be some light and/or faint background "pops and crackles" espiecally in the dead wax areas, but nothing too serious. For the most part the music more than prevails once the songs begin. JACKET CONDITION: The jacket is a bit "rougher" in appearance, but not a total sisaster either----and what a great 1950's cover photo it is. There are some scuff marks and seam tears in places along the seams (espiecally bad along the vertical seam), some light and early signs of ringwear in the dark places, and small amounts of writing in a couple of spots on the front side (top left in marker and bottom right in ink). Otherwise it is fine (again, please view the photos below and judge for yourself). INTERESTING FACTS: You just don't see these Buddy Holly PROMO LP's out there at all any more. In addition, I have (and will continue to have in the months ahead) other collectible LP's listed as well---artists like Freddy Cannon, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Crew Cuts, Jimi Hendrix, Fats Domino and many others---so please check out my entire site--often. As I've mentioned before, I'm even beginning to sell off my personal collection (where this one came from), so there will be many more original and rare LP's/45's listed in the weeks and months ahead---from the '50's through the '70's, and most are in near mint condition as well. GOOD LUCK BIDDING!! If anyone ever needs more info than what is listed, please feel free to email me. I promise to respond!! POSTAGE/HANDLING CHARGES are as follow: In the United States, buyer agrees to pay $3.00 (Media Mail) or $6.00 (Priority Mail) for the first LP purchased in any auction, and then just $1.00 for each additional LP thereafter-----so, buy quantity and save. These are U.S. rates only, and all foreign winners will have to email me for their exact costs. I accept payments through PAYPAL and BIDPAY. And, again, please continue to check out "rogersrecords" on ebay for future collectible oldies on LP, EP, PS, and 45 listings. There are many more to come!
