Budgie : Deliver Us From Evil A-1U / B-1U 1st Press 1982

This first pressing plays to a a superb standard with no interference.  Well there are a couple of very light ticks on 'N.O.R.A.D...' but that hardly qualifies as interference, they are so quiet!  It's obviously not Budgie from their heyday but for the completist this is a stunning version of this vinyl.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is second to none and the vinyl is visually so impressive also.  Another FINAL UPGRADE you could say.

The cover has a little wear but Ex- is probably a fair grade.  The original inner sleeve is in excellent order.

Visual description

The vinyl is in great condition and still has a very strong glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only find a small number of faint hairlines which have no bearing on the superb audio.  The RCA labels are close to perfect with barely any spindle wear.

Play grading  

S1 begins with a perfect rendition of 'Bored With Russia' that plays with no intrusion of any kind.  As I often say not even one dust tick!  Perhaps not one for the die-hard early Budgie fans but it nonetheless grades as Mint from start to finish.

We're on slightly more familiar ground with 'Don't Cry' which again plays with stunning precision throughout.  Mint

The relatively quiet intro on 'Truth Drug' has no background and the first verse / chorus are just as clean.  From then on it plays with tremendous power and depth and the clarity cannot be faulted either.  Some strong work from Thomas here and again Mint is deserved.

'Young Girl' is 'as new' with no sign of any interference.  A powerful number and yet no distortion.  Not sure about the addition of keyboards but I guess they were trying to move with the times!  Mint

The intro on 'Flowers In The Attic' plays and Shelley's opening vocal has no intrusion either.  It continues to play with stunning audio and once more there is nothing to detract from the sound quality.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static and no distortion either.  Another perfect fade out also.  Mint

'N.O.R.A.D. (Doomsday City)' plays with superb audio from the get go.  The only background is one minor tick during the instrumental section after the first vocal section but honestly it is so quiet you barely notice it.  There is is another very light tick towards the end also.  So minor it still warrants a Mint- grading.

'Give Me The Truth' plays impeccable precision with no background whatsoever.  Mint

'Alison' plays beautifully with a clarity and warmth that cannot be faulted.  A delicate number with a great chorus.  Mint all the way, a stunning version.

'Finger On The Button' and 'Hold On To Love' end the album in fine style with real power and depth and of course... no interference.  As clean as the day when first released in 82 both grade as Mint such is the quality.

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

The cover has only a little shelf wear and nothing too obvious.  The edges have barely any rubbing and the spine is in superb shape also.  Just a couple of minor corner rubs and the opening edge has no handling wear.  The front is very clean but does have one small crease top right and on the reverse side it can be seen also.  There is a small scuff by it and another couple of small white 'rubs' as well.  Aside from that the back cover is very clean.

The original poly-lined inner sleeve has no side splits or tears, minimal creasing and only a little age related fading by the top edges.

Play tested on my Rega P2 with AT-VM95EN Cart / Denon PMA-520AE Amp / B&W 684 Speakers

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
