Description
From my own personal collection I am pleased to offer an exceptional MINT- example of the brilliant third studio album by BUDGIE titled “NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON A FRIEND”, Catalogue Number MDKS 8010. This is an ORIGINAL 1973 UK STEREO 1st PRESSING on the BLACK MCA RECORD LABEL, with a lovely 1st issue ROBERT STACE & CO LTD gatefold sleeve. Complete with the correct blue & white Decca inner sleeve. [The matrix numbers are the earliest 7-LNMG-277-2L and 7-LNMG-278-1L].
The classic Roger Dean designed sleeve is in close to EX condition with only light wear and a few minor creases. The front cover has a few small surface impression lines but is otherwise unmarked. The back cover has a bit of ringwear near the top and bottom but nothing serious. The opening gatefold spread is pristine. The spine is square and solid with perfect text. Overall it’s still a very presentable sleeve with no major issues.
The record is in EX+/MINT- condition. It’s a nice solid pressing which sits perfectly flat on the turntable. The black MCA labels are like new with only a few short spindle traces each side. There is virtually no wear to the spindle hole. It is clear that the record has only received a few careful plays. Both sides play essentially as new. The sound quality is particularly raw and heavy with lots of wonderful guitar riffs. Audio playback is MINT- throughout with no discernable deterioration in sound quality and barely any unwanted noise at all. You simply will not find a better-playing copy of this essential hard rock album – I guarantee it!
The original blue & white poly-lined Decca inner sleeve is in EX condition with no splits or tears. “Budgie 3” is written neatly in one corner.
Overall this is a superb copy of Budgie’s finest album which plays without fault.
GRADINGS
The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega P5 turntable fitted with an Elys 2 cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. My gradings are strict and in accordance with the following descriptions:
· MINT- Record is superb, almost like new, with just a few sleeve removal type surface marks and no deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve is near perfect in all respects.
· EX Record is a top quality example, with just a few very light surface marks which do not sound, and barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve has slight wear and/or creasing.
· VG Record has some visual surface marks, but still plays to a high standard without any major deterioration in sound quality – just a few clicks or light surface sound in places. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects. Still a very presentable sleeve.
PACKAGING
LPs are packaged with care and well protected to ensure that they arrive safely in the same condition as they leave me. Records are removed from both inner and outer sleeves in order to prevent seam-splits in transit.
