Budgie : Nightflight 1st Press A1 / B1 1981

This first pressing on the RCA label is the final Budgie LP that I am selling and again it plays with stunning clarity and precision.  There is no interference and has maybe never been played judging by the overall sound quality and the total lack of any spindle wear.

The laminated cover is in superb condition with barely any wear and the original inner is also in great shape.

RCALP 6003 // A - 1U  13 1 / B - 1U // 12 1 // ARUN etched on S2

The audio on S1 is Mint-

The audio on S2 is Mint-

The cover is Ex++

The labels are Mint

The inner sleeve is Near Mint

This is a perfect example of this album - it has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen and there are no marks, scratches or hairlines to be seen.  There is also no spindle wear so I suspect it has only been played once or twice at most.  The run out grooves and labels are also in fantastic order with no marking.

Play grading

Having played every second of S1 I can confidently say it grades as Mint- the clarity and depth of the audio could scarcely be any better.  'I Turned To Stone' starts the side with nigh on perfect sound, just a couple of light static ticks, and the closing instrumental section is just breathtaking!  From the percussive section to Thomas' solo the playback is incredible!  Every track on this side plays with the same distinction - superb clarity and power and no interference.  There is perhaps just a minor amount of inner groove distortion on 'She Used Me Up' but it is not intrusive and you can still turn it up to loud!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Don't Lay Down And Die' on S2 is of the same standard, 'as new' in fact, and I am happy to say that 'Apparatus' is equally as good despite having some quieter sections.  The clarity is once again exceptional and the same applies to all the tracks on this side.  There are no clicks, pops, skips, static or crackle and it is clear is has hardly been played if at all!  Even the super quiet sections on the final instrumental 'Untitled Lullaby' play with great clarity and only a handful of light dust ticks.  Mint- from beginning to end.

In summary this is yet another FINAL UPGRADE first pressing from Budgie on offer here.  The previous was obviously fastidious in how he looked after his vinyls and rightly so!  This plays with great clarity, depth and power and it would be difficult, nigh on impossible (!), to find better.  The cover is also in superb condition.

The Cover

This cover is in near perfect condition with very little shelf wear.  The top edge has only minimal rubbing and the bottom edge is perfect.  The spine is also in superb shape and remains 100% legible and the opening edge has no handling wear at all.  There is very little corner wear, just a little more top right.  The front cover could not be any cleaner and the back cover is almost as good with just one very small scuff by the top edge.  A fine example overall.

Inner Sleeve

The original die-cut plain white inner is in fantastic condition with no side splits or marking and barely any creasing.  Superb!

The Labels

The silver/black RCA are in perfect condition with no marking, writing or spindle wear.
