Description

Up for bids is the great album Never Turn Your Back on a Friend from the Welsh powerhouse Budgie on MCA Records MCG 3513 released in 1973. Entire package is in great shape. There is some slight wear & a minor seam split on album jacket (see photo), and slight scuff marks on the vinyl. This is the beautiful gatefold release featuring the artwork of Roger Dean. Non other than METALLICA was greatly influenced by this band. As you will see the 1st track "Breadfan" became a monster hit for the band on tour and appeared on their Garage Inc. LP.

Budgie is a Welsh hard rock/heavy metal band from Cardiff. They are described by author Gary Sharpe-Young as one of the earliest heavy metal bands and a seminal influence to many acts of that scene,[2] with fast, heavy rock (an influence on the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) and acts such as Metallica)[3] being played as early as 1971.[4] The band has been noted as "among the heaviest metal of its day.

Never Turn Your Back on a Friend is Budgie's third album, released in June 1973. A remastered version was released in late 2004.

This is the band's best known album and is notable for its inclusion of "Breadfan", one of the band's better known songs. Metallica recorded a cover version of "Breadfan" in 1988.

The album cover was done by Roger Dean, who has done much of the album artwork for progressive rock band Yes.
