Budgie : Power Supply A1 / B1 1st Press 1980

This first pressing plays with stunning quality with no interference.  The only background are a couple of very quiet ticks and just a hint of very quiet static on one intro but to all intents and purposes it plays like it has never been played before.  The clarity and power of the audio is superb and the vinyl itself is visually stunning with zero spindle wear.  It may not be typical Budgie and Shelley has definitely attempted a difference tone on his voice but it still plays so well and is easily a FINAL UPGRADE archive version.

The cover is in superb condition with hardly any wear and the red info sheet is indeed perfect.  The inner sleeve is very clean with very little wear.

Visual description

The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no scratches.  Under a bright light great condition and still has a very strong glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I cannot see any hairlines and S2 has just one tiny blemish where there was once a 'speck'.  This has no affect on the audio, it is very difficult to find!  The Active labels are perfect with no marking and no spindle wear.

Play grading

'Forearm Smash' plays with immense power and depth and there is no interference at all.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static just pure 'as new' Mint audio from start to finish.  Thomas introducing himself well here!

'Hellbender' plays to the same high end standard with no intrusion.  Great power and depth.  Mint

Once again 'Heavy Revolution' shows just how well this vinyl has been looked after and plays loud and true throughout.  Very loud!  I'm not sure the production is the best on this album but it nevertheless plays with genuine quality and no background aside from a couple of light ticks on the fade out.  Mint-

The quiet intro on 'Gunslinger' plays perfectly and the opening vocal has only a couple of very quiet ticks at the start.  From then on it plays with sensational quality and the long instrumental is a case in point.  It's a powerful track and Thomas' sound is certainly different to Bourge's and it almost seems like there is a little inner groove distortion on the top end but that's probably more due to how it was recorded / produced.  Mint- is still a fair assessment of the audio.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The intro on 'Power Supply' is so strong and deep and the opening vocal section is just as impressive.  It continues to play with stunning quality and there is no background whatsoever.  Mint all the way.

'Secrets In My Head' is on the same level with not even a dust tick for company.  You can play it loud with zero distortion and again Mint is deserved.

The quiet intro on 'Time To Remember' plays with great clarity and I noticed only a handful of very quiet statics at the beginning.  Shelley's first verse / chorus is flawless and that clarity is maintained throughout.  More of a typical 80s sound you could say - the quieter sections play with such precision with just one barely audible static and the powerful passages play to perfection with no distortion.  Mint-

'Crime Against The World' plays with superb audio and there is no interference.  Again perhaps the 'sound' isn't as clean because it is the final track but the vinyl is also rather thin it has to be said.  Regardless of that it still plays with tremendous quality and Mint- is still deserved.

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

This cover is in superb condition with hardly any wear and certainly nothing obvious.  The bottom edge has only minimal rubbing and the top of the front cover has just one very small sticker removal type mark in the centre, that's about it!  The bottom two corners have a hint of rub maybe.  The spine is super clean and overall Near Mint- is more than fair.

The red insert is in perfect condition and the original poly-lined inner sleeve has only a couple of minor spots and very little creasing.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
