Description

BURNING DESIRE "Why She Had To Go/You Must Do Your Best" Modern/Northern Soul 45 on CHARISMA SOUND. "Why She Had To Go" has a visual grade of VG- and a play grade of VG- to VG. I've had a difficult time grading this one as it is super glossy, but yet has some surface markings that cause some clicks. You can listen to .mp3s of both sides and judge for yourself at the links below. "You Must Do Your Best" has a visual grade of VG and plays a strong VG to VG+.

This record is quite unique and quite rare. Andrew Jervis notes in the liner notes of the recent "Searching for Soul" compilation that there were only a couple hundred copies of this record pressed. I found this copy at a yard sale in Detroit over the summer. The lady whose yard sale it was was given this record by Denny Ewell who played congas on both sides. She said that they worked at the phone company together. At any rate, quite rare and a wonderful record. "Why She Had to Go" appeals to both fans of the Northern Detroit Sound and fans of funk. A great dance floor tune not likely to turn up again any time soon!!
