How this record came into my possession.
There was a sales representative for Columbia Records in the Kansas City area named Dick Ware. He worked for Columbia from the 1960s until he retired in 1977. The following year he had an estate sale and it was there where I stumbled onto this LP.
When I pulled the sleeve out of the jacket to inspect it the sleeve opening was still pointing up. Then I noticed one of the corners of the sleeve was folded over the record opening. It was then that I realized that the record itself had probably never seen the light of day. I unfolded the sleeve and slipped the record out and saw just what you see here in the photos. A pristine LP, now 42 years old.
When I got it home I put it in plastic, put the record on the turntable just to check for warps and took it off. Since then it has probably only been out of the sleeve five or six times to show to others and it was never again on a turntable.
This may be the rarest version of this LP, Mono, white label promo, and in this condition. Recently a copy sold on ebay that was only VG and had a warp. It went for $51.00 as a point of reference. It will still show up in a completed auctions search if you care to see the details.
Hopefully you can see everything from the photos. One corner is slightly ‘bumped’, a little of the cover gloss is rubbed off at the center bottom, you can’t miss the big red not for sale stamp on the back.
I did find it odd that the label does not show songwriting credits.
