Description

This rare, highly collectable album is a gem. His short career only amplifies the appeal. Right out of high school he made this album after the success of hilarious 'Baby Sittin' Boogie'. There is nothing dorky about this guy and I am sure he was inspired by Gene Vincent and other badboys. His vocal are some of the BEST to come out of the 50s. He SCREEMS 'Shake, Rattle & Roll' and 'Long Tall Sally' like a punk with a testostrone imbalance, then easily slips into ballads like 'Ebb Tide' and 'Blue Lagoon' in a way that will make any woman swoon. His guitar playing is notable and the production of this album is excellent. This LP doesn't come around very often, mostly seen is 'recording sessions' album that was released after he disappeared from the scene, his mystique beginning soon after this LP. He was a rocker with tons of talent, only visiting the rock scene for a glint in time.

Columbia Records (6-eye label) - CL 1616 - mono - 1961

The disk is a gorgious EX+, just a hair away from M-. The cover has crisp seams and corners, no writing and only minor shelfwear, mainly on the front. I will call it EX.

I ship records properly, 'disk out of cover' in a 2 ml poly sleeve and sent in a cardboard LP mailer. Questions are welcomed. Bid with confidence.

VINYL GRADING

M- = a pristine record

EX+ = a near mint record. May have VERY minor marks that can only be seen in bright light and plays with NO surface noise

EX = a well-kept record. May have micro-sleeve lines, perhaps minor marks that do NOT affect play. NM-

VG+ = a nice record. May have superficial marks but plays with MINIMAL surface sound ONLY in quiet passages.

VG = a used record. Has visible marks, light scratches and minor surface noise, but is still a good listening experience.

VG- = a well-used record. Has marks, minor scratches and obvious surface noise, but still plays through with NO skips and is still enjoyable.

I do not sell items below these ratings.
