Description

**Back in the High Life** is the fourth solo studio album by English singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist **Steve Winwood**, released on June 30, 1986, by Island Records.

It marked his commercial peak, becoming his most successful album with **3× Platinum** certification in the US, Gold in the UK, and strong chart performance worldwide. The record features a polished, upbeat blend of **pop**, **rock**, **R&B**, synth elements, and soulful vibes typical of mid-1980s production—crafted with co-producer Russ Titelman and a host of guest musicians (including Chaka Khan on backing vocals for "Higher Love").

Key highlights include five major hit singles:

- "Higher Love" (his first US #1, Grammy winner for Record of the Year)

- "Back in the High Life Again"

- "The Finer Things"

- "Freedom Overspill"

- "Split Decision"

The album earned **three Grammy Awards** overall and is often praised for its timeless, life-affirming songs, tight arrangements, and Winwood's signature soulful voice—balancing radio-friendly appeal with enduring quality. It's widely regarded as a high point in his career after earlier solo efforts.

If there is a round sticker on the shrink wrap, it is easily removed with goo gone. I used these stickers for cataloging. There may be pricing stickers on the clear slipcovers. They are not part of the offering and added for protection in shipping. Every used record is play tested and any issues will be listed.

I have been on eBay since 1998 so bid with confidence. Ask all questions before purchasing. Sealed records will not be opened prior to shipment. Condition of sealed records is assumed mint. I ship fast and in Mighty Mailers. Thank you for looking.
