Baden Powell and Vinicius - Os Afro Sambas ? rare original 1966 LP on Forma
Description
Bonafide all-time classic of Brazilian music. One of the greatest albums you’re ever likely to hear.
Independent review from Brazilian music expert Joe Sixpack’s website, Slipcue.com:
“Unquestionably one of the greatest and most magical Brazilian albums ever recorded, this classic has mysteriously remained largely out of print for decades. This collaboration between guitarist Baden Powell and bossa poet Vinicius De Moraes is haunting and timeless, a moody, unsettling blend of bossa nova melodies and somewhat abrupt African rhythms, wisely left a bit rough around the edges. The music leaps out at you, as eerie and vibrant now as it was all those years ago. Powell rerecorded this album twenty-five years later (albeit without Vinicius' help... De Moraes had been dead for over a decade...), and although that remake has its moments, it is nowhere near as transcendent as the original. If you can track this album down, get it. It's a classic.”
Tracks:
Canto de Ossanha
Canto de Xango
Bocoche
Canto de Iemanja
Tempo de Amor
Canto do Caboclo. Pedra Preta
Tristeza e Solidao
Lamento de Exu
Vinyl: VG+ (a few scuffs but plays absolutely beautifully)
Sleeve: EX. Original “loose” sleeve ie no glued flaps at the top or bottom. There is a little red paint on the front cover, presumably covering up some writing, but this has been very well done. On the rear there are a couple of small tears but nothing printed is affected.

I use the 2006 Record Collector grading system:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
