Black Mark Label records, 1984. Catalog Number BMLP-666-1. This is the first Bathory release with the YELLOW GOAT cover. I guess the story goes Quorthon wanted to have a nice gold goat but coun't afford the extra color since gold was very expensive. So the alternative was to choose the closest standard color ( some sort of yellow ) but after they were pressed up and he received the part of the 1st pressing he was horrified at how they came out and future pressings just became the common cover - black and white. I bought this record when it first came out from an import store here that dealt in nothing but metal and alternative. The store got every every import metal release that came out, special versions, but I didn't have much money then since I was still young and bought this since the owner knew I was a big Venom fan. He said this was heavier and faster than Venom but I couldn't really get into it from some reason. So I played the record once or twice and it has been sitting in my collection in a plastic protective sleeve since 1984. I need to pay off a couple of microphones so I am deciding to part with it. The cover has a very slight amount of ring wear, NO seam splits, and some minor creasing near the edges. The cover still has retained it's original gloss since it has been in plastic since 1984. I would rate the cover at EX/EX+. The record still has the original paper sleeve and has just been cleaned with a VPI vacuum. I would rate the record at EX to EX+. To be a little more descriptive there is a scuff on side Evil that does not affect play. Record plays great! Overall I would give the record and cover collectively 9 out of 10. This does not have the lyric sheet. This same item from a seller in Finland recently sold for $561 (item number 110158108615).
