This Presto acetate came from the collection of Joseph Giordano, who did have portable record cutting equipment and was known to record some of the traditional jazz performances in NYC during the 40's and 50's. But we have no idea if he made this one or of the actual source.
Going by information in the Charlie Parker discography we are guessing that these two tracks are from the October 31, 1950 Jerry Lester Television Broadcast, although these two tracks are not listed for that session in the discography.
But all indications would point to this session. The announcer proclaiming, "the first time on the air in NY" would have to be for television as Parker had made countless radio appearances by this time. And that both of these tracks have accordion accompaniment which I have to assume is Milton DeLugg, who played on that Lester broadcast.
The tracks are "Billie's Bounce", which Parker introduces as, "recorded not long ago, a couple of years ago, on the Savoy label". I've included a sample of Parker's solo and faded it out as the the accordion takes a solo. Parker plays the chorus after that. Actual running time is right about 2:00
The second track is labeled as "Untitled" but I believe this is "Relaxing at Camarillo". Again, I've sampled Parker's solo and faded it when the accordion jumps in for a long solo. The actual running time on this track is just about on 2:00 as well
So as far as I know these are completely un-issued sides, but if any Parker experts want to chime in I will update with any new information that is pertinent.
