Description
Charlie Parker. 'Summit Meeting At Birdland' This is a vinyl recording.
This LP features the quintet of altoist Charlie Parker, trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, pianist Bud Powell, bassist Tommy Potter and drummer Roy Haynes performing stirring versions of four bebop standards; "Blue 'N Boogie" and "Anthropology" receive definitive and very exciting treatment. The flip side features Bird on "Groovin' High" with Milt Buckner's trio (the only time that Parker recorded with an organist) and on a few songs with pianist John Lewis, bassist Curly Russell, drummer Kenny Clarke; percussionist Candido sits in for "Broadway." The recording quality is acceptable and Bird's playing is exceptional.
Side One Tracks: Blue 'n Boogie / Anthropology / 'Round Midnight / Night In Tunisia. Recorded in 1951.
Side Two Tracks: Groovin' High / Cool Blues / Star Eyes / Moose The Mooche / Lullaby Of Birdland / Broadway / Lullaby Of Birdland.
Recorded in 1953
