Description
This item is the 1983 promotional item from Radio Shack. From what I can determine, this would have been something like a counter display holding a commercially available cassette, and it is accompanied by what appears to be a promotional only record for in-store use and radio broadcast only, and NOT commercially for sale. The display: this is a somewhat light-weight piece of cardboard, holding a cassette sealed on it. The release is titled Rock 'n' Roll City. The track listing appears to be identical on the cassette and LP:

The cardboard display has some bending and light creasing, and there is a small peel mark in the upper right corner of the front. Otherwise all of the printing and graphics are intact. At the bottom center of the back is stamped in purple ink "Not for sale for promotion only". It also states "custom manufactured in the United States For Radio Shack @1983 Hitbound Records" and "Cat. N0. 51-3009." The record has some (inaudible) age discoloration and a few light sleeve marks; there is also one small scuff mark that may crackle when played. Otherwise the record appears completely unplayed - check the untrimmed plastic residue around the spindle hole. The record label also has the Hitbound Records logo and "distributed through Radio Shack," and has the issue number HR 1001. This would surely make a valued addition to any Beach Boys or Hot Rod music collection. Minimum bid is $5.00 with no reserve!!
