Released on May 3, 2011, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two marked the Beastie Boys’ final studio album, and it was a return to their playful, energetic, and experimental roots after a seven-year hiatus. The album was originally intended to be released as Hot Sauce Committee Part One, but was delayed due to Adam “MCA” Yauch’s cancer diagnosis in 2009. Instead of following up with the planned first installment, the group decided to rename and rework the project, resulting in an album that felt both nostalgic and fresh, blending the lo-fi, punk-infused energy of their early days with the refined production techniques they had mastered over decades.
