ULTRA- RARE 1973 UK *PYE CONTRACT PRESSING* DOUBLE LP
This copy is the rarest UK pressing of this LP.
This rarely seen PYE contract pressing is recognisable from the following characteristics:
- Matt labels
- Hand-etched matrix numbers & non-EMI stamping codes
- Translucent red vinyl.
- Strict & grading under strong daylight & directly beneath a halogen desk lamp to UK 'RECORD COLLECTOR' standards.
- I carefully play every record I sell on a $5,000 Rega P9 turntable at volume and list all visual and audible faults.
- Unless stated, all records lie 100% flat & play without distortion, jumps or sticks. All sleeves/covers have no writing, splits or tears.
- All the photos in this listing have been taken by myself and are of the actual items for sale.
- All records are professionally & securely in custom-made record mailing boxes with the disc removed from the cover. All text & images © Bright Field Music 2008
Both discs have matt custom Apple labels: PCS 7171 & PCS 7172
The side 1 & 3 labels bear a genuine 'Factory Sample - NOT FOR SALE' stickers
Disc 2 (only) is pressed on translucent red vinyl common to most Pye pressings in the early '70's.
Housed in a rare/early outer laminated 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover WITHOUT the George Martin production credit inside the gatefold.
Complete with its matt G&L printed red lyric inner-sleeves.
Matrix numbers: YEX 905-2 & 906-2 (machine stamped) & YEX 907-4 & YEX 908-2 (hand-etched)
Stamper numbers: V/1, Q/1, R/1 & JA/1 (all hand-etched)
Disc weight: 1. 148g 2. 140g

Just a single, tiny spindle trail on each.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
All surfaces are extremely clean & glossy with the only visible mark in strong daylight being a 6cm light fingernail scuff line on side 3 but no further marks or scratches to any. Close inspection directly beneath halogen light reveals some minor inner-sleeve removal marks/paper hairlines but no other significant or any major signs of wear. All sides lie 100% flat on the turntable on both sides, with no sign of dishing or warping.
Play: NEAR MINT
This outstanding copy has been played just ONCE and apart from 2 light ticks on 'Eleanor Rigby', it plays and sounds 'as new' throughout.
Cover
EXCELLENT +
A superb early example with a sparkling high-gloss front laminate which bears just a single 'thumbnail' crease to the front panel but no other signs of wear. All corners are sharp and unbumped and all opening edges are clean and undamaged. The rear panel is a clean as the front displaying just 3 small 'thumbnails' but again, no significant wear. The inside of the gatefold is immaculate and all seams and the perfectly worded spine are totally undamaged and unworn. You will not find better.
Inner-sleeves
EXCELLENT
Both are clean & flat with just 2 and 3cm splits to the lower seams, but no creasing or other signs of wear.
