Beatles 1964 ATCO 45 and Picture Sleeve Ain’t She Sweet Nice VG+!
I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…
Who would I be insulting if I mentioned that this sleeve is very rare?
Sleeve: VG+. Both sides are a little faded after 59 years, but not terribly. This is due to the sleeve’s gloss that has repelled yellowing. Light dirtwear. NO SPLITS. Name “Aigen” written in red ballpoint on one side. Top of sleeve is almost free from wrinkles and little tears. That is to say that some exist there, but just a few.
A generic white sleeve will be provided to protect your company picture sleeve during shipping.
Vinyl: VG+. I’d originally bought this a few decades ago as a “sleeve only” purchase. So I have included a 1969 issue of the 45, with “Vocal by John Lennon” to the left of the playhole.
Labels: VG. They should be graded higher, because they look almost new. But there are a few issues. Side 1 label has some tearing from sticker removal. Side 2 has an annoying ticker tape sticker adhered to it that was probably responsible for the tear on Side 1. You can’t get those things off. Don’t try it. Finally, there is a drill hole through the label.
Plates: 64-C-7884-3/ 64-C-8005-2. Hand-etched “AT” on both sides.
It’s going to be a very long while before another of these comes up for sale. Grab it now for your collection, or if you’re really that generous, give it as a gift this Christmas for your collector. Personally, I’d keep it if I were you…
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
