READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
Beatles 1975 LP Magical Mystery Tour in Shrink, RARE All Rights, 5 Lines on Both Sides, NM!
Not many collectors are aware that the Los Angeles plant had actually issued three variations of the “All Rights” label. This one is the rarest one.
By far, the most common label has the disclaimer in a semi-circular text at the bottom of both labels. (See compere photo.) Those were issued for the majority of the short-lived three month run of the “All Rights” variation.
The second variation had no disclaimer on the Side 1 label, but had it on fives lines on the Side 2 label in the top right shoulder of the sliced Apple. This one, the hardest and shortest-lived had the disclaimer on five lines on both sides.
Since this is the scarcest one to locate, I would venture the guess that it was not in production for the full three months before the catalogue reverted to the orange Capitol label on Jan. 1, 1976, when the Apple contract had expired.
Vinyl--- NM/NM. I never use the grading term, Mint, even on sealed albums. But if there is a candidate for a mint grading, this would be one. Album looks brand new, unplayed all the way around, as if you just sliced the cellophane open and slid the album out of the cover.
Plates--- H32/H36. Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.
Cover--- NM PROMO. Still in shrink. A thin strip of shrink is missing at the top on the back cover. Gatefold and booklet have never seen the light of day.
Breathe Holes--- There is one breathe hole on the front cover at the bottom, just above the word, “Includes,” in the white strip.
Labels--- NM/NM. Labels look 1975-brand new and freshly-printed. Entire album looks unplayed. NO SPINDLE MARKS.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- EX. Still fresh and white. Uses the 1976 inner sleeve with very thin paper stock. Another clue that this was the last Apple pressing. Lots of wrinkles, due to improper insertion at the factory.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: N/A
Gorgeous piece!
**Be sure to have a look at the Sgt. Pepper copy for sale this week, from the same limited run, also in shrink!**
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
