READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles 2 MONO LPs Revolver and Sgt Pepper First Pressings NICE Play Copies, VG+!

If there were two albums that represented the world transitioning from black and white to color, it’s these two.

This pair of rare first pressing MONO Beatles albums are not NM. They’re also not trashed by anyone’s definition. Each album has about 80% original shine, can either be used as play copies with lots of life left in them or can be resold as very respectable additions to a beginner’s collection. They can be upgraded if you want to, but they are certainly not necessary.

Revolver

Vinyl--- VG+/VG. Actually, I find this one hard to grade. Vinyl has about 80% brand new shine. Both sides’ surfaces have light hairlines only, none of which can be felt with the fingertip. I wanted to call it VG, but it’s stronger than that. I could easily see others grading this one VG+, but I think it’s just under that grade.

Plates--- G2/F3. Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.

Cover--- VG. Structurally strong cover. Front has light yellowing, not much though. VERY light dirtwear, almost none. Back cover has moderate to heavy whitewear, ringwear. Top seam has very light shelfwear, bottom seam has moderate shelfwear. Spine has some light crackling of the slick. NO SPLIT SEAMS.

Labels--- NM/NM. Nice, flat matte labels look 1966 brand newly-printed. First pressing labels used only the surnames of John and Paul in the songwriting credits. Later issues printed them as “John Lennon-Paul McCartney.” NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Inner Sleeve--- G. Original yellow Capitol inner sleeve is present. One side has a small center split, bottom seam has a large split. Presents as VG+, full color, a very few light wrinkles.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: None.

Sgt. Pepper

Vinyl--- Strong VG Both Sides. Light lines only. None of which can be felt with the fingertip. Still retains about 75 to 80% original shine. This copy has maybe just a few more hairlines than the Revolver copy has, but is still a very good player.

Plates--- F1/F4. Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.

Cover--- VG-. The real issue is that the top seam has a 3-inch split by the spine. Both right-side corners have splits a little over an inch long. There’s also a center split about an inch long in the center seam of the gatefold. Spine also has a small tear on the band’s name. Light to moderate dirtwear. Too bad, this is the truest first-printed MONO Pepper cover that had zero gloss.

Insert--- VG+. First inserts were made of thin cardboard with dark green backgrounds and high gloss. That’s what this one is. Light record outdent, light amount of light finger divots. Back has yellowed moderately. Nice-looking insert.

Labels--- NM/NM. Nice, flat matte labels look 1966 brand newly-printed. First pressing labels list the second song on Side 1 as “A Little Help from my Friends.” NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Inner Sleeve--- VG+. Original Capitol tan inner sleeve is present. Some copies were issued with these, the then-current Capitol sleeve, when there were shortages on the red gradient inner sleeve. Presents as Excellent, but there’s a one-half-inch seam split to one side.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: N/A

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
