Beatles 45 Ain’t She Sweet ATCO 1964 Scarcer Styrene Pressing, EX!
I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…
Collectors are aware that copies that have “Vocal by John Lennon” at the bottom of the label are the rarer copies. It’s important to mention that all styrene pressings use the wider-spaced font on their labels than the vinyl pressings do. But not all widely-spaced label fonts are styrene pressings. See compere photos.
Collectors are also aware that most copies of “Ain’t She Sweet” was pressed into low-quality thick vinyl on the ATCO label, which was at that time, the budget division of Atlantic Records. Audiophiles are aware that styrene pressings deliver a far more dynamic audio range than vinyl does. Styrene is also resistant to surface noise. The downside to styrene is that it’s generally good for a small amount of plays before groove distortion sets in.

Also for sale this week is a Monarch Records’ pressing of the “She Loves You” 45, which also uses their widest fontly-printed labels.
Vinyl: EX/EX. Both sides shine like brand new, with the exceptions of a very few light angel hairs per side.
Plates: All three dead wax markings are present on both sides, which are found on genuine copies: The machine-stamped “MR” in a circle, which is Monarch Records’ insignia, the hand-etched delta that precedes the catalogue number, and the hand-etched “AT,” which was Atlantic’s insignia.
Labels: NM/NM. Both labels look untouched brand new!
Sleeve: EX. Most of these early 60’s ATCO sleeves are made from thin recycled paper, and they always yellow badly. Not so much the late 60’s, early 70’s ATCO sleeves that were upgraded to full stock paper.
Surprisingly, this early ATCO sleeve has not faded in the least. If you graded it NM, you wouldn’t be wrong.
Note: All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
