They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles ’65 MONO LP Drastic Error Capitol/ Vee Jay-Consigned One-of-a-Kind Pressing!

This one is for all of us out there, who collect the most bizarre and dramatic label errors we can find.  Collectors know that the common or marginal errors don’t account for very much, so the weirder the better. 

This one’s weird and one-of-a-kind.  Just like you.

Vinyl--- VG-/VG.  The playing surface is unfortunately pretty played.  The worst of it is that Side 1 has a long, feelable scratch.  Both sides have many long, non-feelable scratches.

I did take this one to a friend’s house to play-test it.  Being a consigned copy from Vee Jay Records, we know that their vinyl stock could take serious gouges and still play pretty well.  And that’s how this vinyl plays.

If you’re watching the rotation of the vinyl where the feelable scratch is located, you can detect a light tic on each rotation.  But it never pops loudly.  In fact, if you listen from across the room, the tic is really no louder than the surface noise from all the other scratches, and it blends in with all the other reindeer games.  With that said, both sides play VG.

Plates--- P29-C/P31-C.  These are non-conventional because Capitol didn’t press this copy.  “Audio Matrix” machine-stamp is present on both sides, along with an older-style machine-stamped 5-pointed star.  See photos.

Cover--- VG.  Structurally sound cover.  Front and back covers have light to moderate dirtwear and ringwear.  Back cover has moderate foxing.  A small amount of slick loss on the front cover, to the right of the dome logo.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

Labels--- VG+/VG+.  Side 1 label has some fingerprints which might come off.  But being that these labels are flat paper stock, I’m afraid to try any kind of liquid on it, because that’s the special label.  Side 2 has some light scratches that don’t tear into the label, as well as some spindle marks.

Concentric ring is the same one used by the most common “Introducing the Beatles” label with large brackets.  See photo.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG+. Olive green Capitol inner sleeve is present.  Both sides have creases from improper insertion into the cover at the factory, plus some wrinkling from the decades.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: None.  Most consigned covers didn’t have one.

If your Beatles collector has the strange fascination with factory errors being one-of-a-kind, get them this copy for Christmas.  The vinyl isn’t the best for sure, but with this copy, it’s the label that counts, because it’s the only one.  Not unlike the Winnie the Pooh tigger.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
