Description
The Beatles - Abbey Road
(Apple PCS 7088 UK LP 1969)
This is an original UK LP pressing. It has a fully laminated sleeve which has an extremely thin spine. It has a misaligned "Apple" logo on the rear sleeve. It comes with its original company plain paper inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has dark green "Apple" labels. It has 1st press YEX 749-2 and YEX 750-1 matrix numbers. The mother stampers are MTG 5 and APD 10 respectively. "Her Majesty" is not credited on Side 2's label. This is a genuine UK 1st pressing with a misaligned Apple logo on the rear sleeve. It has the earliest matrix numbers too. These are getting scarce nowadays.
Sleeve: There is a 1 cm area of more moderate rubbing wear at the bottom sleeve opening edge. There is a 5 cm seam split and area of more moderate rubbing wear at the centre of the spine (see photo). There is a very small crease in one corner tip area. There is some light or very mild ringwear on some areas. A strong Very Good condition
Vinyl: Overall, this is a reasonable copy. However, there are 3 or 4 careless surface hairline marks. A couple of these are quite long. There is a thicker surface mark on Side 2 too. I shall describe each side individually:
Side 1: There is a light, but long, 9 cm surface hairline mark. This angles round the groove slightly. There is a very light 1.5 cm surface hairline mark. There is also a more moderate finger-tip sized surface rub mark. Otherwise, there is light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can only be seen under a strong light. Side 1 is in Very Good+ condition.
Side 2: There is a thicker surface mark that goes across some of Side 2. This mark is separated into two parts. One part measures 4 cm, the other part measures 1 cm. There is also an extremely long, but light, 19 cm hairline mark that goes across Side 2. There are two other (8 cm and 4 cm) light hairline surface marks. Otherwise, there are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can only be seen under a strong light. Side 2 is in Good+ condition.
Overall, this LP grades in Good++ condition. The labels are in Very Near Excellent condition & show mild spindle wear. The company plain inner sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & fading.
I have fully play tested this LP. Side 1 plays Very Good+ overall & Near Excellent in some places. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in some quieter places. There are a couple of mild clicks on one track. Side 2 plays Very Good overall & Very Good+ in some places. There is intermittent light, mild or more moderate crackle that goes through the majority of "Golden Slumbers" to a varying degree. This is only noticeable in the quieter parts of the track. Otherwise, there is some light, mild or very mild crackle in some quieter places. Overall a reasonable audio copy.
