Description

*** BID WITH CONFIDENCE: As a long-time Beatles collector, I’ve had my share of bad experiences buying vinyl on eBay - so I know the disappointment and frustration. I grade conservatively, strive to provide accurate descriptions and detailed photos, package each item VERY carefully and ship quickly - see details below. ***

Please note that I use visual grading only (unless otherwise requested), and NM is the highest grade I use.

From the heyday of 1970s “Beatlegs,” here’s a vintage copy of the unofficial Beatles LP “Around The Beatles.” (There was also both an EP and a different LP with different tracks that had this same title.) Like most boots from this era, it was issued in a plain white cover with a printed insert - on this one the insert is the size of a standard sheet of paper instead of oversized (which was more typical).

Although not stated on the insert, it was released by Wizardo Records, one of the better-known “Beatleggers” back in the day - and it has the Wizardo label (actually “El Wizardo” on this one) with no song titles listed (standard practice on Wizardo albums).

This is the first issue of this title, issued on green vinyl - actually more of a marbled green, when you hold it up to the light, you can see drops of darker color mixed in (see pics#4, #5 and the close-up in #6).

The vinyl is NM (near mint) - I’m not the original owner, but I see no visible scratches or marks - it’s been played very little (if at all) and well cared for.

The plain white cover is still in the shrink, so the insert has been perfectly protected all these years. There is some small writing on the right edge, where the original owner made notes about the content of Side 2 (see pic #2). So the insert is NM, and other than the written notes, the plain white cover is also well-preserved - no seam splits or bends/creases.

The final pic (#6) shows the song titles and all available info on this LP from reference books on Beatles boots: You Can’t Do That (Charles Reinhart, 1981); Do You Want To Know A Secret & Fixing A Hole (L.R.E. King, 1988 & 1989); Black Market Beatles (Jim Berkenstadt & Belmo, 1995); and The Beatles Not For Sale (Belmo, 1997).

PLEASE keep in mind that this is NOT a studio quality recording, even by 70s standards - none of these unofficial releases were. It’s pretty much a collectors period piece. If you weren’t around back then, it’s probably hard to imagine how exciting it was to pick up a new Beatles boot and actually hear unreleased stuff in any form. And if you were, then you know exactly what I mean.These low-fidelity boots have a charm of their own...

* FAST SHIPPING: Free domestic shipping via USPS Media Mail. Sorry, but I only ship within the lower 48 states. My goal is to ship each item out the day after I receive payment, and I haven’t missed one yet.

* PACKAGING: I package every item VERY carefully, just the way I’d want to receive it:

(1) Using standard LP and 45 mailers with insert pads;

(2) Removing unsealed vinyl from its cover/sleeve to prevent seam seam splitting during transit; and

(3) Labeling the front & back of the package with a bright orange sticker (“FRAGILE - VINYL RECORD - Do Not Bend or Crush”). Please check out my feedback comments - several buyers have specifically mentioned how well their records were packaged.

Please contact me if you have any questions about this item.. Thanks for looking, and stay safe - Rick in TX
