READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles’ Christmas Album 1970 LP Apple PROMO Fan Club Only, VG++/EX and GENUINE!

Truth is, I couldn’t decide on which grade to use, so I used them both.  The only flaw to the vinyl is that both sides have some long and light manufacturer’s defect lines that don’t affect play.

Truth is, these Christmas Albums weren’t pressed with the same high-grade quality vinyl reserved for their commercial releases.  They all play with a little surface noise, and sitting inside the covers directly after having been pressed, they usually had some impression from the inner sleeves on both sides.

That’s what you’re seeing.

Vinyl--- VG++/EX.  If this copy plays with surface noise, a good VPI cleaning might be just what it needs.

Plates--- SBC 1-100-A/SBC 2-100-B.  This run was so small that no alpha-numeric numbers were assigned to the plates.  Legitimate copies were pressed in the Winchester plant only.  Hand-etched Delta symbol (or rifle) in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Winchester.  “Bell Sound” and “sf” on both sides.

Cover--- VG+.  Cover presents well.  However; there are creases on all four corners.  There’s also a crease down the spine on the back cover.  Spine print is present and clear.  Bootlegged copies either have no spine print or broken-up and unclear print.  Bottom left corner photo is crystal-clear.  Bootlegged covers lost resolution on that photo.  See photos.  Inside of the cover is of cardboard construction.  Bootlegged copies are flimsy posterboard.  NO SEAM SPLITS.

Labels--- VG++/EX.  Side 1 label also suffered some manufacturer’s defects.  The rim around the top of the label, and an area to the right of the label has manufacturer’s burns.  See photo.  Side 2 label is NM.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.

**NOTE:  Genuine copies of The Beatles’ Christmas Album MUST have Capitol’s concentric label ring in the correct place, a quarter inch out from the playhole, just as all of your Capitol pressings of Beatles albums have.

If your copy has the concentric ring much further out and closer to the label’s edge, you have a bootlegged copy.  See Compere Photo.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- EX. Generic white inner sleeve with die-cut hole for the labels to show is present.  Sleeve has light record outdent, as well as the wrinkles that you can compare to the light marks in the vinyl surfaces on each side that I was talking about.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
