This strong EXCELLENT 1st MONO pressing dates from the album's initial release in December 1964 and carries the earliest possible -3N cut on side 1. This has one minor, but noticeable, audible variation to the -4N pressing which occurs on Reply' when, just before John sings the final ..'cause you walked hand-in-hand..', a drop out occurs on the -4N cut (and on the EP) which is not present on this -3N cutting.

The disc itself bear the familiar the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1240

Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'The Parlophone Co..' worded rims.

A 'KT' purchase tax code is visible around the centre of the side 2 label.

Matrix numbers: XEX 503-3N & XEX 504-4N

Stamper codes: 1/GGD & 1/MD

Vinyl weight: 161g

Housed in an outer laminated, inner-flipback gatefold cover with an outline front stereo indicator.

Complete with an original 'Use Emitex..' rice-paper lined inner-sleeve.

A clean & vibrant pair with display just a handful of light spindle trails and small, very faint initials on label 1.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Both playing surface are extremely clean and retain all of their 'as new' deep gloss shines with no more than two or three light surface marks on each side in strong daylight, but nothing I would call a scratch. Closer examination some harmless wispy inner-sleeve removal hairlines but no further blemishes or wear. Both sides of this impressively heavy disc lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Play: EXCELLENT +

This well looked after copy has received minimal careful play and contains no significant or major audible faults. My single careful play-check at volume was a delight revealing just a  touch of light background on 'Mr Moonlight'. However there are no clicks, pops or any other audible distractions on this really enjoyable copy.

Cover: EXCELLENT +

A really first class example of this fragile cover which displays very little wear and certainly no major faults. The delicate front leaf is clean and flat and retains a high-gloss, unrubbed laminate with just two tiny, light wrinkles on Paul's face. Even the exposed outer edges are sharp and free fro many tears or feathering. The inside of the gatefold is clean & black where it should be with no rubbing, writing or missing paper on either panel. Both ends of the delicate central hinge are unsplit and undamaged. The rear panel is just as clean & glossy as the front. The spine is clean, uncrushed and unworn and retains its factory pinched ends. A tough one to upgrade.

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT

Clean, crisp & flat with a few minor storage wrinkles and light toning, but no writing, tears or seam splits.
