Description
THE BEATLES - 'BEATLES FOR SALE'
This NEAR MINT UK MONO pressing of their fourth UK LP dates from initial December 1964 release and is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1240
Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'The Parlophone Co..' worded rims.
Unusually, no purchase tax code is visible around the centre of either label.
Matrix numbers: XEX 503-3N & XEX 504-4N
The -3N cuting on side 1 contains one minor, but noticeable audible variation to the later -4N pressing. It occurs on 'No Reply' when, just before John sings the final ..'cause you walked hand-in-hand..' a drop out occurs on the -4N cut (and on the EP) but no on this -3N cutting.
Stamper codes: 4/AAL & 1/AAG
Vinyl weight: 137g
Housed in an outer laminated, inner-flipback gatefold cover with and outline front mono indicator.
Complete with an original 'Use Emitex..' rice-paper lined inner-sleeve.

Labels: NEAR MINT
A superb set with no spindle marks or wear to or around the side 1 centre hole and just two tiny marks around the side 2 hole.
Visual: NEAR MINT
Pristine, deep-gloss playing surfaces which are MINT/'as new' in strong daylight with not a single surface mark of any kind on either side. Closer examination beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals only some harmles faint inner-sleeve removal marks on side 1 but no further blemishes or wear elsewhere. Both sides of this immaculate disc lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Play: NEAR MINT
Clearly played just once of twice at most, the sound quality is flawless throughout. My single play-check at volume found absolutely no evidence of any groove/playwear or background noise anywhere. In fact the only audible distraction were one or two light ticks in the band between tracks 5 & 6 on side 1. Tough to find a better sounding copy of this album.
Cover: NEAR MINT
An outstanding example of this most fragile of covers, which looks like it could have left the shop yesterday let alone 46 years ago. The delicate front leaf is perfectly clean & flat and retains its high-gloss laminate with no loss of shine. There are tiny bruises to the tips of the right corners but no 'thumbnail' wrinkles, creases or bends. There is not even a single spine bend or wear to the exposed outer edges. The rear panel is its equal with again no rubbing or storagewear or even a disc impression. There is a tiny 2cm 'thumbnail'wrinkle in the lower left corner but no other trace of wear elsewhere. The inside of the gatefold is clean and black where it should be with no yellowing or discolouration. The only blemish is two tiny fleck of missing paper midway down the leading edge of the left panel - apart from that, it's flawless. The fragile central hinge is strong and unsplit and both flipbacks are perfectly clean & unworn. The spine is white, square and uncrushed and retains is factory-pinched ends. All seams are smooth and unstressed with no flaking laminate or any other damage. Tough to find better.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT +
Clean, crisp & flat with just an unavoidable light disc impression but no writing, tears or seam splits.
