THE BEATLES - 'BEATLES FOR SALE'


This fine looking UK mono pressing of their December 1964 album was purchased in late 1968.

Although the labels on this copy are of the same design as the 1964 1st pressing, they have a more glossy finish to the paper compared to the matt 1964 pressing.

There is NO purchase tax code on either label.

Matrices: XEX 503-3N & XEX 504-4N

Stampers: 4/AAL & 1/AAG

Vinyl weight: 146g

Housed in an outer-laminated UK printed gatefold mono cover, complete with its original red & white EMI advertising inner-sleeve.

 

CONDITION

Labels: EXCELLENT

Both are nice and clean with just some light wear around each centre hole from careful placement on a quality turntable.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Both side are clean and bright and free from any scuffs or scratches in strong daylight. Closer inspection directly beneath halogen light reveals just some harmless inner-sleeve removal marks on side 2 only.

Audio: EXCELLENT

Carefully played on quality equipment, there is no trace of any groove/playwear or any clicks, pops or other such distractions on any track. There is however some light vinyl background in the quieter passages due to what appears to be a little 'non-fill' in the pressing process. However this does not, in our opinion, spoil the listening enjoyment but is the reason it is downgraded a touch from EX+.

Cover: EXCELLENT +

Such a hard cover to find in anything approaching this condition but fortunately this well looked-after example has been carefully stored in a clean, non-smoking environment these past 50+ years. The fragile front leaf is clean, glossy & uncreased with just a hint of wear to the right corner tips but no tears or feathering. Both panels inside are clean & unworn with no yellowing, writing or missing paper. Both upper and lower hinge ends are fully intact with no stresses or tears. the rear panel is as clean as the front with just the hint of a disc impression. Overall this is a very tidy example of this fragile cover.

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT +

Clean & flat with no writing tears or seam splits.
