Black Vinyl Custom Label Capitol Promo 45

"Girl" was written by John and Paul, based on an original idea by John. It was recorded on the evening of November 11, 1965, on the final night of recording for Rubber Soul. The rhythm track was completed in just two takes, with a number of overdubs then added. These included a fuzz guitar part played by George, which was left off during the mixing stage. “Girl” was the second track on Side Two of the UK Rubber Soul LP.
In November 1977, Capitol Records scheduled the U.S. release of "Girl" backed with "You're Going To Lose That Girl" as a single (Capitol 4506) to accompany the release of Love Songs, a Beatles' compilation album that contains both of these songs. However, the single was cancelled before it was issued. In conjunction with the planned single, a Picture Sleeve was printed for the commercial release, and a promo 45 was issued, with “Girl” on both sides, one in Mono, one in Stereo. Both the Picture Sleeve and the Promo 45 have become highly desired by collectors.
This auction is for a genuine, black vinyl Capitol Promo 45 for “Girl”. The dead wax is machine stamped “Manufactured by Capitol ”. The Record is in Mint condition. Also included is the Picture Sleeve for the aborted “Girl” / “You’re Going To Lose That Girl” 45, in Near Mint condition.
