Description
Second pressing. Black label with yellow logo and silver print. “The Gramophone Co. Ltd.” printed at the start perimeter print and “Sold in U.K. subject…” text. Capitol print. comes with the KT tax code on the label (SIDE 2). MG stamped on side 2 runout.
This VINYL is -
Variation A. This variant uses a small “The Beatles” band name on both sides of the label. But most curiously on side 1 the “Northern Songs, NCB” credit appears below the band name! The side 2 layout differs from the other TNR variants. It is believed this is the first TNR label that appeared and the side 2 error was soon rectified.

- A VERY FINE example of a 2nd press beatles classic. There are no pops or crackles. There is a very slight surface noise which is limited to the run in and fade out, it is a pleasure to listen to. The Garrod & Lofthouse laminated cover flipback sleeve is in very good condition, there is a small pen marking to the top of the outer sleeve on the rear and a small rip to where the record has been removed from the sleeve over years of use approx. 20mm. Comes in the original EMITEX inner sleeve. THE SPINE IS IN GOOD CONDITION.
The record has surface marks / scuffs but none interfere with the acoustic quality. The record has a lovely black sheen to it (see picture). The pressing plays beautiful, to say its circa 50 years old this is in VG condition (graded conservatively).
Once cleaned to your specification this record will play even better and will compliment any collection. (I AM LISTENING TO THE RECORD AS I LIST THE ITEM, JUST BRILL, THE SOUND QUALITY OF THESE EARLY PRESSESS ARE QUITE REMARKABLE. I WILL KEEP THIS VINYL IF IT FAILS TO GENERATE A SENSIBLE OFFER).
GRADING - THIS VARIES ON WHOS SYSTEM YOU GRADE IT WITH AND WHAT STEREO SYSTEM YOU ACTUALLY USE. I HAVE LISTENED TO THE RECORD MANY TIMES NOW, THERE ARE NO POPS OR JUMPING. THE VERY SLIGHT SURFACE NOICE IS LIMITED TO THE FADE IN AND RUN OUT. HONESTLY A TOTAL PLEASURE TO LISTEN TO. I WOULD GRADE THE VINYL AND SLEEVE AS A VERY CONSERVATIVE VG.
