Description

Some pretty hard-to-find, rarely seen items up this week.  Have a look at them all!

Beatles Hey Jude/ Revolution 45 NM Absolutely First Pressing, LA

Sleeve:  STRONG West Coast sleeve with the very scarce thumb tab, and “The Beatles on Apple” in script-style lettering.  The very first Apple sleeves with a die-cut hole were these West Coast-only sleeves in 1968.  Both sides have light finger divots in light amounts, and light outdent.  Also has light serration outdents to both sides.  All three seams are intact, no splits, although they do show signs of turning white.  BE CAREFUL NOT TO STORE THE 45 IN THE SLEEVE WHEN YOU GET IT.

Vinyl:  Absolutely stunning NM vinyl, both sides.  Under the bright bulb test, you should allow your eyes several seconds to adjust first, before finding a scant few extremely light hairlines on the A-side.  If I didn’t tell you that, you wouldn’t have noticed them.

Labels:  One of the hallmarks of these first pressing labels is that they seem to fade, and turn blue quite easily.  Whenever you find one of these, there is the 99.5% probability that it has faded to some degree, and it isn’t considered damage.  It is in fact, considered authenticity of a first pressing.  The A-side label has turned almost blue, with a little green retained at the edges.

The all-important diacritical hallmarks of the very first-run, first-day issue is of course, the lack of the matrix numbers printed on the labels, as well as the lack of the “Produced by George Martin” disclaimer.  Both are missing.  Songwriting credits are last names only.  Later pressings used both first and last names.  The West Coast asterisk is in the trail-offs on both sides of the disc.

In total, this is a stunning final upgrade of this first-day issue of the first title ever released on the Beatles’ newly-formed Apple label.

I gotta warn you, if you're buying it for your Beatles collector as a Christmas present, you may well end up keeping it for yourself!

Note:  All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note that due to time constraints, I have had to stop play-testing my vinyl.  However, I am happy to by request.  As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
