Description

In this auction are THREE ORIGINAL JOHN LENNON/YOKO ONO APPLE PICTURE SLEEVES & 45 RPM RECORDS from 1969, 1970 and 1973 in VERY NICE CONDITION. So, please have a look if you want to COLLECT John Lennon or Apple picture sleeves and records or want to UPGRADE the ones you have.


Here are the details:


Picture Sleeve & Record #1:


  • “GIVE PEACE A CHANCE” by John Lennon b/w “REMEMBER LOVE” by Yoko Ono

  • This is Apple Records 1809.

  • This picture sleeve/record was released July 7, 1969.

  • “Give Peace A Chance” is a recording of a live performance of the song that was “recorded in Room 1742, Hotel La Reine Elizabeth, Montreal” (which is printed on the label) during John and Yoko’s “Bed-In for Peace”.

  • It has become the mantra for the antiwar movement, becoming another of John Lennon’s “signature tunes”.

  • The PICTURE SLEEVE is in VERY STRONG VG+ to NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) CONDITION. There are just a few VERY LIGHT/SLIGHT folds/creases at the top left corner and some VERY LIGHT/SLIGHT folds/creases on the “flap” that keep me from automatically grading the sleeve Near Mint. It’s a FLAT SLEEVE with NO ring wear, NO tears, NO seam splits and NO writing on it. This B&W sleeve is especially CLEAN and BRIGHT!

  • The VINYL is in NEAR MINT CONDITION WITH LOTS OF GLOSS. The vinyl was pressed at Capitol’s Scranton plant.


Picture Sleeve & Record #2:


  • “INSTANT KARMA!” by John Lennon b/w “WHO HAS SEEN THE WIND?” by Yoko Ono

  • This is Apple Records 1818.

  • This picture sleeve/record was released January 27, 1970.

  • I think “Instant Karma” is really one of John’s best tunes in terms of beat and lyrics. Plus, in the refrains, John’s voice reminds me of the time he pushed his voice to the limit on “Twist & Shout”. Just my opinion...

  • The PICTURE SLEEVE is in VERY NICE NEAR MINT (NM) CONDITION. This sleeve is VERY CLEAN and FLAT.

  • It’s is really tough to find this primarily white picture sleeve without any ring wear and/or soiling!

  • The VINYL is in NEAR MINT CONDITION with LOTS OF GLOSS. The vinyl was pressed at Capitol’s Scranton Plant.

Picture Sleeve & Record #3:


  • “MIND GAMES” b/w “MEAT CITY” by John Lennon

  • This is Apple Records 1868.

  • This picture sleeve/record was released October 31, 1973.

  • The PICTURE SLEEVE is in VERY STRONG VG+ CONDITION. It has very light overall wear including a few very light bends/folds (not creases) at the top opening on the “flap” and very light disc impression. The sleeve would probably have graded higher were it not for the small bit of partial ring wear on John’s forehead on both sides of the sleeve. (BTW, It’s very hard to find a copy of this sleeve without the forehead wear. Many of these picture sleeves have this “forehead” ring wear from being packed 25 to each Apple shipping carton and rubbing together in transit.) The sleeve is mostly flat with NO seam splits, NO tears and NO writing.

  • The VINYL is in NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) CONDITION. There is a TINY WHITE DOT in the vinyl on the A-Side. This appears to be a “vinyl fault” that occurred at the time of pressing. IT DOES NOT AFFECT RECORD PLAY. The vinyl has LOTS OF GLOSS. It was pressed at Capitol’s Jacksonville plant.

NOTE: All of the records have Apple labels with “MFD. BY APPLE RECORDS, INC.” in the perimeter printing of the full/un-sliced Apple labels.


SO, HERE ARE THREE PICTURE SLEEVES AND RECORDS IN REALLY GREAT CONDITION FOR A NEW COLLECTION OR FOR UPGRADES IN AN EXISTING COLLECTION!

These grades are Poor (P), Fair (F), Good Minus (G-), Good (G), Good Plus (G+), Very Good Minus (VG-), Very Good (VG), Very Good+ (VG+), Near Mint Minus or Very Good++ (NM- or VG++), Near Mint (NM), Mint Minus (M-), and Mint (M or MT) to VISUALLY GRADE these records and sleeves, so please know the descriptions of these grades before bidding.
